The Indonesian Digital Landscape From a Developer's Point of View

These past few months I had spent my days developing, I’ve been out from the digital community for quite a while. Only a few meetups with light discussions were my extracurricular activities, the rest was mostly spent learning on new platforms and new mindsets. It’s been more than a year since my first introduction to the digital community in Indonesia. StartupLokal was the first amongst many. Nowadays, I haven’t attended the monthly meetups due to conflicting schedules. A few days ago I met some friends from the community and their first response was “Where the hell have I been?”. ...

Life As A Developer

Okay I’m being straightforward in saying: this is a rather narcissistic blog post about who else but me :p This blog is my venting mechanism or in a more subtle way, my idealism to share everything I have collectively gather throughout this irreplaceable and most grateful life as non other than a Developer. It all starts on an 8088 XT my dad had when I was little. A game of Digger got my undivided attention to this CGA monitor with a box beneath it overlaid with a Turbo button to pump up more Megahertz lol. ...

Startup Kitchen - Bandung Ventures Night 2011 @ ITB Comlabs

Last Friday, 8 April 2011, I represented Urbanesia as one of the startups East Ventures has invested upon to present about how we do our everyday lives. It is more about how me manage innovation from ideas to execution. Ideas are cheap because here in Indonesia, problems are abundant. Execution is priceless, you never know! Startup Kitchen - Bandung Ventures Night 2011 ...

Small is NOT so small

It’s been like a few months not posting into my own blog. The 24th day of 2011 and it seems that months have passed by just like that. In the span of 24 days that have passed, every single day is cramped with all the aspects of being a startup. Just today, I went from a programmer, a cable crimper, a business partner, a troubleshooter, a mobile app consultant, a colleague to a friend for a friend, all in just one day. Multiply that by 24 and that’s exactly what’s been going on. The dynamics revolving is mind blowing. ...

Bancakan 7th Meetup Trip

Wow my second trip to Bancakan, Jogja was full of positivity, optimism and of course knowledge. The trip was 2 days 1 night but the experience I absorbed was well beyond the quantity. The theme for the Bancakan event was Wordpresspreneur. Startups and entrepreneurs as speakers came from Bandung and in and around Jogja. The lineup was very enlightening to say the least :) From Jakarta, I went with Sagad (@sagad) and Ollie (@salsabeela) by train. We arrived at 6 AM Friday and was welcomed by Fachry (@fachrybafadal). Stayed at Hotel Maharani with the gang from Bandung which are Agus (@agoes82) of GantiBaju.com, Anggi (@icreativelabs), Valent of WordcampID (@ValentMustamin) and Bima. ...

A Very Full & Startup-esque Week

Okay last week was an amazing one. It’s a change from my routines albeit a welcomed one :) A lot of things happened in just 1 week both personally and professionally. First of all, my very own startup Ktemu is on a new milestone on the roadmap. Before actually launching later this coming months, I decided to go directly into the market. Ktemu is targeted as a B2B and also B2C startup. Not too worried on the latter part so I went head first with B2B. ...

Developers, EMPOWER Yourselves!

It’s with pride if I answer questions about what I do. I’m a developer running a web startup. There are 2 things in the previous sentence that makes me smile every time I think about it. Let’s dive in. I AM A DEVELOPER I’m lucky enough to be one of the few to work in something that I have loved ever since I laid my eyes on. I fell in love initially with a 8088XT running Digger. I basically wrecked a couple of PCs while learning about it. Anyways, because of the profound impact of computers in such an early age, I was very up to date about technologies back then. In fact I was one of Internet’s early adopters here in Indonesia. The first thing I did when I knew about WWW, I signed up for a free website at Geocities, that was in 1996. ...
